Roy F. Garbarino of Reading passed away at his family home on August 13, 2025. He was 76 years of age. Roy was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on April 22, 1949, the son of the late Francis J. and Ruth E. (Gordinier) Garbarino.
Roy grew up in Reading and graduated from Reading Memorial High School, Class of 1967. Upon graduation, Roy attended and graduated from Wentworth Institute and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He lived a simple, quiet life filled with love, generosity, and devotion to family and friends. An avid fisherman, Roy took joy in fly fishing in rivers, crafting his own flies, and catching striped bass along the ocean. He cherished nature, quiet moments at home, and the company of those he loved.
After living in Townsend, Massachusetts, for 40 years, Roy returned to his family home in Reading to care for his mother until her passing, demonstrating his selflessness and steadfast devotion. Friends and family remember him as a generous, inspiring, and quietly remarkable man whose kindness touched everyone who knew him.
Roy is survived by his best friend Barbara A. Kimball of North Charleston, SC; sister Dayle Silverman and her husband Daniel of Bedford; and cousins David Smith and his wife Michelle of Peterborough, NH; Brian Smith of Fremont, NH; and Jimmy, Joseph, and John Garbarino.
