Labor dispute impacts nearby towns, but Reading crews dispatched from Tyngsboro remain on schedule
The following statement was posted on the town of Reading website.
The Town of Reading is aware of the work stoppage due to labor contract negotiations affecting some Republic Services customers in neighboring communities, including our neighbors in North Reading and Wakefield. The Town Manager is in communication with Republic management and can confirm that Reading is not one of the towns impacted by these union negotiations. Our town’s rubbish and recycling crews are dispatched from Tyngsboro. The impacted towns have crews that are dispatched from Peabody and Revere. We will continue to communicate with Republic management during this period to ensure our services are not impacted.
