Warns Veterans about the Dangers of Pay-to-Play Claims Consulting Companies Known as “Claim Sharks”
Reading, MA — Jeffrey Blonder, Adjutant of the Thomas F. Hayes Memorial Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DVA), recently issued a warning to the veterans of Reading about the recent increase of “Claim Sharks” targeting veterans. A “Claim Shark” is an unaccredited individual or company that charges veterans unauthorized fees while helping them file Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability claims.
The DAV believes that no veteran should have to pay to file a claim under any circumstances. Period,” said Jeffrey Blonder. “Yet, there are companies who look at those who have already paid a price through their service and sacrifices as targets to be used to line their own pockets. And they’ll do it by emptying veterans’ pockets under the guise of claiming they can do what VSOs like DAV can’t. And they’re wrong. With over a century of service to America’s disabled veterans, DAV and our fellow VA-accredited VSOs will continue providing assistance to our nation’s heroes and their families. And we’ll do it at no cost”.
“The Thomas F. Hayes Memorial Chapter of the DAV has two accredited Chapter Service Officers that will assist any veteran with their claims without a cost to the veterans or their surviving spouse”, Blonder added. Any veteran or surviving spouse needing assistance with filing a claim can contact Jeffrey Blonder at 617-967-6892 or via email at jsblonder@gmail.com.
DAV is dedicated to helping veterans and their families access the benefits they have earned, advocating for their rights, and raising public awareness about their needs. DAV Chapter 37 is located in Reading, MA, and meets at the American Legion Post 62, 37 Ash St.
