Obituary: Dennis F. Lane, 70

September 1, 1954 — June 2, 2025

Dennis F. Lane, of Wakefield, MA, and Wells, ME, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, with his family by his side. He was 70 years of age.

Dennis loved all New England sporting teams and events, whether he was watching them in person or on TV. He had a love for traveling all over the United States and much of the Caribbean with Anne and their friends. Dennis was drawn to the ocean, and he and Anne purchased a second home in Wells, Maine, where he preferred to spend his time. Dennis had a quick wit, a sarcastic side, and a great sense of humor, which drew people to him. His legacy was his ability to draw people together while never having a bad word to say about anyone. His smile was contagious and warm; his eyes were kind.

In later years, on Friday nights, he could be found at Litchfield’s in Wells, Maine, enjoying a cold one surrounded by many friends. Dennis enjoyed summer days on the beach, an avid enthusiast of Sudoku and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed playing the lottery, scratch tickets, and late-night trips to Mohegan Sun with his mother, Pat.

When he retired as the bar manager at the American Legion in Reading, he continued to work part-time as a bartender to stay in close contact with the many friends he had made over the years. Wednesday and Thursday at the legion, you could find many old friends stopping by to see Dennis. He was a bright light in this world whose spirit will live on in those who loved him.

Dennis is the beloved husband of Anne (Quinn) Lane. He is the loving brother of Francis J. Lane Jr., Thomas J. Lane and his wife Donna, Patrick J. Lane and his late wife Kendy, and Teresa E. Smith and her husband Richard. Brother-in-law of William E. Quinn, his wife, Kelly, and David C. Quinn. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
