Obituary: Anthony J. Ricci, 65

April 27, 1959  –  March 29, 2025

Anthony J. Ricci, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 65 in Melrose, MA. Born on April 27, 1959, in Medford, MA, Anthony lived a life marked by love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that each day brought.

Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Janet K. Gallagher-Ricci, and his proud sons, Christopher J. Ricci and Justin W. Ricci, all of Reading, MA. He was the son of the late John A. and Lenna L. (Sevelitte) Ricci, who instilled in him the values of family and kindness that he carried throughout his life.

A man of many interests, Anthony’s laughter was most vibrant when he was fishing with his sons and cousin, a tradition that brought him immeasurable happiness. Sundays were sacred in the Ricci household, where the family bonded over games of pool, followed by the adventure of trying a new restaurant each week, and culminating in a cozy evening at home watching a movie together.

Anthony’s love for exploration extended beyond family outings; he could spend hours perusing stores, finding joy in the simple act of discovery. His passion for the Boston Red Sox was shared with his beloved wife Janet, with whom he enjoyed many games, cheering on their favorite team through every high and low.

Photography was more than a hobby for Anthony; it was a passion that allowed him to capture the beauty of the world through his lens. His collection of photographs is a testament to his artistic eye and his ability to see wonder in the everyday.

A voracious reader, Anthony found solace and excitement in the pages of science fiction novels, where his imagination could traverse galaxies and explore the unknown. His intelligence shone through in his thoughtful conversations and his witty humor, which never failed to bring a smile to those around him.

Anthony will be remembered as a funny, friendly, and intelligent man who made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His warmth and generosity of spirit were the hallmarks of his character, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Anthony J. Ricci, we celebrate a life lived with enthusiasm and a heart that was always open. He has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the enduring power of family. Anthony’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, just as the stars he so loved to read about continue to illuminate the night sky.
