READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Woburn woman with operating under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle on Feb. 14.
MARINA RODRIGUES, AGE 20, of WOBURN, was arrested and charged with:
- Operating Under the Influence of Drugs
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
On Friday, Feb. 14, Reading Police were dispatched to the area of 311 Haverhill St. for reports of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road.
Police located a gray Honda Accord parked in the middle of the southbound travel lane. Officers observed that the car was running, and that the vehicle’s exterior lights were on.
Officers observed a female slumped over the wheel in the drivers seat of the vehicle. After extended attempts to wake the driver up, officers opened the vehicle out of fear of a medical emergency.
Officers were able to wake the driver, identified as RODRIGUES. During an initial investigation, officers found several bottles of prescription medication in the center console and driver side door compartment of the vehicle.
Upon speaking with RODRIGUES, officers observed her acting disoriented, lethargic and confused. Based on her condition, officers requested for members of the Reading Fire Department to perform an evaluation. It was determined that RODRIGUES suffered no injuries as a result of the incident.
RODRIGUES was arrested without incident. She was later released on personal recognizance and arraigned in Woburn District Court on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
