HAVERHILL – It is with tremendous sadness that we mourn the passing of Nancy (Helen) Neville Carlson, who died on February 10th, 2025, in Haverhill, MA.
Nan, as she was affectionately known, was a ray of sunshine for everyone who met her. Her joy and gentleness were gifts bestowed on us all. She is survived by her two children Alexandra and Nicholas Carlson and their respective partners Tyler and Ryan, by her three brothers William, Richard and James Neville, their wives Betsy, Madeline, and Suzanne, 5 nephews, 1 niece, Nancy’s partner Randy Herman and her former husband Mark Carlson.
Nancy was a true caregiver and dedicated healer who worked as a Nurse and Nursing Coach for more than 40 years and was affiliated with, among others, Massachusetts General Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and the Traveling Nurses Association. Not satisfied with the results of traditional medicine, she went on to become a Reiki Master, certified Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor and Ayruveda devotee. So many were helped through her service and knowledge which were so kindly delivered.
Raised in Guilderland, NY, Nancy went to Boston to earn her degree at Boston University in nursing. She lived and raised her family in Reading, MA and subsequently lived in Salem, Arlington, and finally settling in Amesbury, MA. She had an adventurous and spiritual bent, traveling to India twice, Turkey, Europe, Costa Rica, and across the US. Nan had a wonderful sense of humor, loved gardening, decorating her homes, cooking for family and friends, writing and reading poetry. At 71 she left us too soon, but faced her own healthcare challenges with courage and fortitude. We will all miss her dearly.
