David Arthur Casavant, a resident of Reading for 33 years, died suddenly on December 6, 2024. He was 61 years of age.
David was born in Kingston, New York, on January 2, 1963, the son of the late Robert and Georgette S. (Pichette) Casavant. David grew up in Kingston, NY, and graduated from Kingston High School in 1981. He married his high school sweetheart in 1989 and was married for 35 years.
David is a graduate of Boston University with a master’s degree in biomedical engineering. He worked for Medtronic Inc. for 25 years before working for Boston Scientific. He had a great knowledge of the pacemaker and defibrillator medical industry. He wrote many patents including developing the signature MVP pacemaker for Medtronic. Cutting edge research was his passion.
David had a great love of golf and was a long-time member of Meadow Brook Golf Club. He excelled at golf at a young age. It became a lifelong passion, which he instilled in his son. He also enjoyed fishing, and was an avid skier, which he instilled in both his children. He loved traveling and took many amazing trips to Europe, Africa, Mexico and Hawaii with his family.
David was the beloved husband of Carole M. (Murphy) Casavant. Devoted father of Matthew T. Casavant of Waltham and Aimee M Casavant of Sherman Oaks, CA. Cherished brother of Michael Casavant of Hilton Head SC and Lisa Miller of St. John’s Island SC.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Burial is private. Funeral home visiting hours will be Friday, December 13, 2024, from 4-7pm at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.).
