James “Jim” W. Selfridge, a lifelong resident of Reading passed away at his home on November 19, 2024. He was 86 years of age. James was born in Reading on April 1, 1938, the son of the late John and Catherine Selfridge.
Jim was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School. He owned and operated his own construction company, Selfridge Construction Company, for many years. He was a long-time member of the Wakefield Elks Lodge #1276.
Jim was the husband of the late Gail (Spaulding) Selfridge. Father of James “Jay” W. Selfridge. Jr. and his wife Bunny of Reading, John “Jack” E. Selfridge and his wife Elaine Fong of Reading and Gerald “Jerry” E. Selfridge and his wife Sabrina Stevenson of Queen Creek, AZ. Loving grandfather of Tyler, Nick, Chrsitopher, Nathan, Justin, and Cameron Selfridge.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22 from 5-7pm at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St., (corner of Woburn St.) Reading. Jim’s funeral service and burial will be private.
