Reading Police Charge Braintree Man with OUI, Issue Summons

Reading, MA – Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department charged a Braintree man with operating under the influence.  

On Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1:09 a.m., Reading Police were dispatched to the area of Main Street for a report of a man who appeared to be asleep in a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road. 

Upon arrival, officers located a black 2020 Toyota Rav4 stopped in the middle of the road. The driver was identified as a 22-YEAR-OLD MALE from BRAINTREE, who appeared to be asleep, and the car was still in drive.  

Officers were able to wake up the 22-YEAR-OLD MALE and put the car safely in park. 

Officers also observed front-end damage to the vehicle, which appeared to be consistent with a minor crash.  

The 22-YEAR-OLD MALE was evaluated on scene by Reading Fire as a precaution and transported to an area hospital for further evaluation due to him being asleep and unconscious on arrival. 

A preliminary investigation, including a field sobriety test, determined that the 22-YEAR-OLD MALE was operating under the influence. The 22-YEAR-OLD MALEblood alcohol level was .155, almost twice the legal limit.  

The 22-YEAR-OLD MALE of BRAINTREE is being summonsed to Woburn District Court and charged with the following: 

  • Operating Under the Influence – Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
