Reading, MA — Encore Dance Ensemble, a company of women ages 40+, presents “Undercurrents” at the Dance Complex in Cambridge on November 2 and 3. The performance will last one and half hours followed by a reception.
The evening-length program presents modern, jazz, and improvisational choreography exploring love, loss, nature, memories, and the powerful ways relationships sustain us.
Encore members draw on their life experience as inspiration for their work. They share a passion for the art of dance and the fulfillment that comes with building community through outreach and performance.
Encore members are thrilled to be celebrating 16 years of creating and performing their original choreography. Award-winning dance educator Elaine Sisler co-founded Encore as a birthday gift to herself. She remembered, “On my 60th birthday, I vowed that I would start a dance company so that I would have the opportunity to perform again. I never expected it to last this long. Encore has been a dream come true.”
Reading resident, Anne Schwartz, is a dancer and choreographer with the company. Schwartz says, “I feel excited to be performing with this creative and energetic group of women. I am so impressed with the amazing talent and the deep connections in our company that shine through our choreography.”
