William R. Faller of Stoneham, formerly a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice in House in Danvers on August 18, 2024.
William was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 19, 1944, the son of Rudolph W. and Katherine M. (Leahy) Faller.
William was the beloved husband of Gayle (Leary) Faller. Devoted father of Melissa Holmes and her husband Jeff of Wakefield, Renee Hoyt and her husband Michael of Salem NH, and Susan Tapley and her partner Brian Ryan of Wakefield. Cherished brother of Marie Cox of Mystic CT and Janet Culkins of Newport RI and brother in-law of Robert Leary of Kennebunk, ME. Loving grandfather of Nicole, Donnie, Jennifer, Charlotte, and Calvin and loving great grandfather of Chloe and Dakota. William is also survived by his niece Molly and her husband John, nephews Will and wife Melissa, Sam and wife Sarah, as well as his favorite lunch buddies Rita & Jon, and favorite cousin Stephen Clark.
William “Bill” was a dedicated station operator for the Reading Municipal Light Department for an impressive 32 years. Bill was known not only for his technical expertise but also for his friendly demeanor and his strong work ethic.
William’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy’s Church 99 Bedford St. Burlington at 10:00 am. Burial is private. Funeral home visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 pm.
