Julie B. (Kaine) Porter, a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away on July 18, 2024, at the Winchester Hospital, Winchester, Massachusetts. She was 67 years of age. Julie was born in Concord, New Hampshire; the daughter of the late Edwin J. and Diana M. Kaine.
Julie grew up in Reading and graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1979. She went on to earn a BA in Education from UMass Amherst and performed her student teaching in Bath, England. After raising her young son, Julie worked as an Early Childhood Educator at Kindercare in Stoneham for over 20 years, where she tirelessly applied herself to building the framework for a lifetime of learning with countless young children in her classroom. Julie was an avid lover and practitioner of music, art, crafts, and gardening. She would often rescue and care for small, injured animals to release in the wild, bred Maine Coon kittens, and was deeply connected to nature and her spirituality.
Julie was the cherished mother of David L. Porter of Reading. Loving sister of Steven J. Kaine and his wife Leslie of Reading and aunt of Jonathan and Emily.
A celebration of Julie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the American Legion (downstairs) 37 Ash St. Reading, MA from 3-7pm.
