Obituary: Michael W. Lloyd, 55

December 21, 1968 – June 25, 2024

Michael W. Lloyd, 55, a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family and close friends on June 25, 2024, following a valiant battle with brain cancer. Mike was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, on December 21, 1968, the cherished son of Maria (Blanda) Lloyd and George W. Lloyd of Reading.

Mike grew up in Reading and was a graduate of Reading Memorial High School class of 1986. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s Degree from the University of Lowell in Manufacturing Engineering. He worked most recently for L3 Harris Technologies. Mike was truly devoted to his family and happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He was a music lover and drummer, and his favorite hobby was rebuilding his 1983 Jeep Scrambler and 1991 Foxbody Mustang with his sons and brother.

In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie A. (Pierce) Lloyd. Devoted father of Michael W. Lloyd, Jr. and Tyler T. Lloyd, both of Reading. Cherished brother of Randall W. Lloyd of New Durham, NH and his love LaJuana M. Calegan and sister Michelle E. (Lloyd) Halloran and brother-in-law Robert G. Halloran of Stoneham. He was the loving uncle of Derek and Emma Halloran and Hannah and Brady Tersolo. Also survived by in-laws Ruthann and Thomas A. Pierce of Danvers, sister-in-law Jill M. Tersolo of Danvers, and brother-in-law Scott T. Pierce and Elyce Pierce of Wakefield, along with many lifelong family friends.

A visitation will be held for Mike at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Wednesday, July 3 from 9am-12pm. A graveside service will follow at Wood End Cemetery, Franklin St., Reading at 12:30pm.
