Paul “Peej” Joseph Wright of Los Angeles, CA, age 41, passed away on May 7, 2024. Beloved son of Peter C. Wright and the late Mary Ann (Peck) Wright of Duxbury, MA. Devoted brother of Michael and his wife Elizabeth of Wakefield, MA, Brian and his wife Kate of Cornelius, NC, and Lani and her wife Kristin of Londonderry, NH. Adored uncle of Conor, Patrick, Jack, Luke, River, and Findley. Cherished cousin and nephew to a loving extended family.
Born in Reading, MA, the second oldest of four children, Paul spent much of his childhood doing what he loved most: acting in local plays, excelling in gymnastics, diving in swim competitions, and reading his favorite novels. Paul attended and graduated high school from St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH where he was a treasured friend to many, an active member of the theater, ballet, wrestling, and a cappella programs, and a dorm prefect. He went on to graduate from Columbia University, where he majored in English, performed in multiple theater productions, and shared comedic relief as an improv and comedy group member.
After several years in New York City, Paul moved to warmer weather in Los Angeles. His creativity shined in his work as a VP of Marketing, where he curated memorable events and experiences for clients and co-workers alike. He spent much of his free time with dear friends, outside with his mini Goldendoodle, Doheny, competing on the pickleball court, hosting comedy shows, and writing. Throughout his lifetime, Paul created a close-knit group of friends that became family.
Paul’s greatest joy in life was being an uncle. His five nephews and one niece eagerly awaited their weekly FaceTime calls with “Uncle Buggy” who, despite 3,000 miles of distance between them, made each of them feel seen, connected, and greatly loved. His silliness, deep care, and bright smile are memories the children will hold dear for years to come.
Being around Paul could best be described as catching lightning in a bottle – he was a bright flash of love, impeccably-timed humor and wit, boisterous laughter, and kindness that left an indelible impression on all who had the opportunity to meet him. Often appointed the role of emcee for life’s biggest events, one of Paul’s many gifts was his spoken and written storytelling. No matter the occasion, audience, or topic, he had an uncanny ability to unify those around him through a wave of shared uproarious laughter. Paul’s ability to make others feel adored, with a splash of humbling humor, will be forever felt and remembered.
Paul will be dearly missed by those who loved him. To honor Paul’s life and memory, donations can be made to a charity or cause dear to you in his name.
