Phelan Elected to Mass Society of CPAs Board of Directors

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs) today announced that Amy Phelan, CPA, MST, AEP, was elected to serve a third year on its 2024-2025 fiscal year, which began May 1.

Phelan, a North Reading resident, is tax shareholder at tonneson + co where she works with high-net-worth individuals, business owners and their families on tax planning, retirement planning, trusts and estates and more. tonneson + co is a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Wakefield that provides accounting, tax, auditing and business advisory services that address the local, domestic and international needs of clients.
 
MassCPAs Board of Directors is a group of 19 elected members that sets policies, manages programs and oversees activities that benefit the 11,500-member organization and accounting profession in Massachusetts.

With an impressive tenure exceeding 25 years at tonneson + co, Phelan is deeply involved in various initiatives within the firm. She dedicates her time to mentoring activities, contributes to the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee, and supports charitable causes such as the American Cancer Society, Catie’s Closet, Merrimack Valley Food Bank and the North Reading Food Pantry.

Phelan’s professional engagement extends beyond her firm; she holds esteemed memberships in the Boston Estate Planning Council (BEPC) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Additionally, she serves on the MassCPAs Educational Foundation, showcasing her dedication to nurturing the growth and development of aspiring accounting professionals.
