Barletta, Pasquale “Pat” -Of Reading, May 23rd. Beloved Husband of the late Carmela (Petrillo). Devoted father of Rosalee Scozzari and her husband Chris, Joseph Barletta and his wife Nicole, and Andrea Jones and her husband Matthew all of Reading. Son of the late Angelo and Angela (Centrella) Barletta. Adored grandfather of Isabella, Julia, Sophia, Lucas, Nathan, Angela and Jacob. Brother of Mario Barletta and his wife Maria of Woburn and the late Franco Barletta and his wife Sandra of Topsfield. Pat is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pasquale “Pat” grew up in Montemiletto, Italy, a suburb of Avellino, in a close-knit family. He was the oldest of three brothers. When he was a teenager, his family immigrated to the USA, settling in Malden, MA. It was in Malden where Pasquale met the love of his life, Carmela. From the moment they met, he knew she was the one. They married in the summer of 1969 and later raised their family in Reading, MA.
Pasquale was deeply involved in the community. He served as the President of the Reading Lions Club, Pop Warner and was very active in his church. His faith and commitment to service grew over the years, particularly within the St. Basil’s community, where he devoted countless joyful hours in many different roles. For many years Pasquale was a constant presence and the chef in the St. Basil’s kitchen serving up delicious meals during Cursillo weekends and events. Pasquale’s beaming smile, welcoming spirit of hospitality, and servants’ heart always shined the light of Jesus to everyone around him.
Known for his warm friendship and culinary skills, Pasquale was famous for his ability to cook an excellent meal, be a great listener, and provide loving guidance. He was the rock of our family and for him, family had many different meanings—friends became relatives. All who knew Pasquale and enjoyed his friendship and love will miss him deeply.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading on Thursday, May 30th at 10:30am. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH. Calling hours will be held in St. Athanasius Church on Wednesday from 4-7pm. If not able to attend the Mass you can live stream on https://christthekingreading.org/livestream. Interment Wood End Cemetery, Reading. La sua fede e il suo impegno per il servizio sono cresciuti nel corso degli anni, in particolare all’interno della comunità di St. Basil, dove ha dedicato innumerevoli ore gioiose in molti ruoli diversi. Per molti anni Pasquale è stato una presenza costante e il cuoco nella cucina di San Basilio, servendo pasti deliziosi durante i fine settimana e gli eventi del Cursillo. Il sorriso radioso di Pasquale, il suo spirito accogliente di ospitalità e il cuore di servitore hanno sempre irradiato la luce di Gesù a tutti quelli intorno a lui.
Conosciuto per la sua calda amicizia e le sue abilità culinarie, Pasquale era famoso per la sua capacità di cucinare un eccellente pasto, essere un grande ascoltatore e fornire amorevole guida. Era la roccia della nostra famiglia e per lui, la famiglia aveva molti significati diversi—gli amici diventavano parenti. Tutti coloro che conoscevano Pasquale e godevano della sua amicizia e amore lo mancheranno profondamente.
