Obituary: Virginia (Mirabile) Fredette, 90

January 24, 1934 – May 27, 2024

Reading, MA – Virginia (Mirabile) Fredette, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones Monday at Lahey Hospital in Burlington. She was born in Messina, Sicily in Italy on January 24, 1934, to the late Salvatora (Gatto) and Francesco Mirabile. She grew up in Boston and spent most of her later years in West Springfield. She worked as a hairstylist on Newbury Street in Boston, and later, she worked locally, including with the Sisters of Providence in Holyoke. Virginia was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in West Springfield. Her family was the most important thing to her, and she loved cooking for gatherings that brought everyone together.

She was the loving wife of Earle J. Fredette who passed away in 2009, beloved mother of Lisa Snider and her husband Jon of Wilmington and John Fredette and his wife Lauren of Stamford, Connecticut, caring stepmother of Mardelle Wollard and her husband John of Florida, Joseph Hershon and his wife Rina Miller of Longmeadow, devoted grandmother of Julia and Jack Snider, J.C and Tess Fredette and David Miller and Ariel Alonso, Virginia also leaves many nieces and nephews and extended family in the U.S and Italy. She was the last surviving child of five sisters and one brother.

There will be calling hours from 2-4 pm Friday (5/31) at the TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield Street, West Springfield.
