Obituary: Thomas J. Tamburrino, 81

November 8, 1942 — April 26, 2024

Thomas J. Tamburrino of Reading passed peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, with his wife Barbara by his side.

Born on Sunday, November 8, 1942 in Revere, Thomas is the loving son of the late John and Edith (Zirpolo) Tamburrino. Thomas is a kind, warm and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Thomas had a deep interest in the world. He dearly loved his grandsons, had a passion for wooden ships and the sea and he thoroughly enjoyed sailing on the Windjammer schooner along the Maine coast.

Thomas’ mother died when he was just a year old. His wonderful family of his aunts Mary & Jennie; Godmother Theresa & Godfather Lefty and his stepmother Elaine Smith Tamburrino all had a hand in lovingly caring for this delightful person.

Thomas graduated from Revere High School in 1960. He later worked for 41 years in the Boston Office of the FBI, where he received the Director’s Award for “sustained distinguished service.”

Thomas proudly defended our freedom by serving as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.

Thomas is the beloved husband of Barbara F. (Davis) Tamburrino. The devoted stepfather of Renee M. LeBlanc and Juliet LeBlanc, he is the cherished grandfather of Tyler Bruce and Oliver “Ozzy” Bruce.
