Roland P. Houde, a resident of Reading for…. years, formerly of Lawrence, passed away on April 14, 2024, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. He was 88 years of age. Roland was born in Methuen, Massachusetts, on August 3, 1935, the son of the late Fortunate and Florida (Plouffe) Houde.
Roland grew up in Lawrence and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. Roland was employed at Mass. General Hospital for 39 years and served as Assistant Chief Technician in the Radiology Department.
Roland was the beloved husband of Mary (Gosbee) Houde. Devoted father of Christopher R. Houde and his wife Susan of Woburn and Steven M. Galuna of Nashua, NH. Loving grandfather of Kayla Houde and Kevin Houde and his wife Carrie. Cherished brother of Pauline Berube and Chanel Houde AKA Brother Daniel Houde SA and the late Maurice and Normand Houde. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Roland’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, April 22 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Athanasius Church 300 Haverhill St. Reading at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Wood End Cemetery, Reading. Funeral Home visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm.
