William Warren, 89, of Williamsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Warren and Constance (Mumford) Warren, and stepmother Louise (Renshaw) Warren; his wife, Ruth (Sieber) Warren; and his daughter, Patricia Izer.
William earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degrees from Tufts University; received a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School; and finally, a Master’s of Engineering from Northeastern University. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and retired from Stone and Webster in Boston, MA.
Through the ‘70s until the late ‘90s, he was a member of the Quannapowitt Yacht Club of Wakefield, MA. He was Commodore of the club several times and an accomplished sailor, accumulating countless trophies and awards.
After retiring from Reading, MA, to Williamsburg, VA, he continued to sail locally in Hampton and Deltaville, was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, and was a devoted volunteer at both the church as well as in Colonial Williamsburg.
Bill was many things: a lifelong learner and educator, fixer of all things, worldwide adventurer, skier, windsurfer, and sailor. He was also an adoring husband to Ruth, a loving father to Debbie and Pat, and a proud brother to Joe and Ted.
William is survived by his daughter, Debra Allen (Scott); 10 grandchildren, Cynthia Allen, Sarah Fox, Angel Harmon, Heather Robson, Steven Veskovic, Amber Roy, Michael Veskovic, Alicia Robson, Veronica Robson, and Victoria Bedard; 12 great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Joseph and Edward Warren.
A reception for William will be held Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg, with prayers to be offered by Rev. Dr. Lannon Martin at 4:30pm.
