July 17, 1945 – October 14, 2023
Anne Sinn, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023, in Castle Rock, CO. She was born in Reading, MA, on July 17, 1945, to the late Corsair pilot Lt. Cdr. Richard Tague Schaeffer (whom she never met) and his wife Edythe Schaeffer (Anderson).
Anne was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many through her various careers and passions. She began her professional life as a Speech Therapist in Boston, after earning an MA from Boston University. Later, she pursued her passion for world travel as an International B707 Flight Attendant/Tour Guide for Ports-of-Call Travel Club in Denver. “Flying for Ports”, she enjoyed explorations on almost every continent and a majority of exotic world vacation destinations.
She fell in love with her husband, Kirk, who also flew for Ports-of-Call, while on a trip together in Ayr, Scotland. After the travel club, Anne earned an MA at Metropolitan State of Denver, and enjoyed sharing her passion for helping others first as a Special Education Teacher and Dept. Chair, and later teaching English and Social Studies in DPS middle schools. Anne’s dedication to her students and her ability to connect with them on a personal level made her an exceptional educator.
Aside from her professional accomplishments, Anne had a deep love for her family and cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Kirk, and her daughters, Bonnianne (Scott), Heidi (Glenn), and son Riley (Kellie). Anne was a proud grandmother to her granddaughters Ashley, Rhiannen, Whitney, Marley, Poppy, Maevie, and grandsons Declan and Tague. Her family meant the world to her, and she will be dearly missed by all.
In her free time, Anne enjoyed her hobbies, including antiquing, researching her ancestry, and exploring neighborhood estate sales. She always enjoyed English linguistics, and she loved making corrections. She also had a special fondness for cats and found great joy in their companionship.
Anne’s family will honor her memory by hosting an Irish Wake/Garden Party next spring, the details of which will be announced at a later date. It will be a time for family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate Anne’s remarkable life. Anne Sinn will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her passion for education, and her warm and caring nature.
She has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. The memory of her love and life, will live in all that were privileged to know and love her.
