The following statement was received by Candidate Mark Delaney. Delaney pulled papers last week for the May 14 Special Election for the Select Board vacancy.
After much thought and deliberation this past weekend, I have withdrawn my candidacy from the special election to fill my wife, Jackie McCarthy’s seat on the Town of Reading Select Board.
I appreciate the support from many friends and neighbors who let me know that they would back me. However, I’ve determined that the timing to do this now is not best for me and my family.
