Obituary: Edith G. Strob, 81

February 14, 1943 — March 3, 2024

Edith G. Strob of Reading passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 3, 2024. She is 81 years of age.

Born on Sunday, February 14, 1943, in Melrose, Edith is the loving daughter of the late Walter Smith and Marguerite Rose (Saulnier) Smith. Edith is a warm, kind, and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.

Edith was a devoted wife, mother & homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She loved playing 45s on the weekends with her family. She had a love of animals especially cats, and she enjoyed watching the birds feed off of the bird feeder outside of her bedroom window. Edith enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren playing games and watching them grow up. She loved watching the Patriots and Red Sox.

Edith was a devoted grandmother who loved to spoil her grandchildren. Edith and her family created beautiful lasting memories at the Salisbury Beach Reservation where they loved to camp each summer. The family also enjoyed camping in many other spots over the years.

Edith is the beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Strob Sr. who passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023. She is the devoted mother of Joseph Strob Jr. and his wife Deana and Eric Strob and his wife Lauren. The cherished grandmother of Madison, Devin, Kelly, Katie, Boston & Bella Strob, she is the dear sister of Edwin Smith and the late David Smith. Edith is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral from the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home, 11 Linden Street READING on Friday, March 8th at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Edith’s Eternal Life in Saint Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill Street Reading at 10:30am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with Edith’s Family on Thursday, March 7th from 4-7pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Charles Lawn Memorial Park, Reading.
