Margaret J. Sauer, 84, formerly of Reading, MA, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Olive L. (Willson) Sauer. Ms. Sauer graduated from the Centenary College for Women in New Jersey and earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from Hillsdale College in Michigan.
Ms. Sauer had been employed for many years as an elementary school teacher, having taught in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Massachusetts. At the time of her retirement, she had taught children with learning disabilities at the Ditson Elementary School in Billerica.
A resident of the Town of Reading prior to moving to Peabody, she was a member of the Reading Gardening Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She had also volunteered at the Children’s Hospital, the Showa Institute and the Reading Escort Service. Margaret was a loving sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sister, Belle Baines, six nieces and nephews and seven grandnieces and grandnephews.
Arrangements: Her memorial services will be held at a later date. Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
