READING — Chief David Clark is pleased to report that the Reading Police Department will offer free self-defense classes for women next month.
The RAD self-defense system focuses on teaching women quick, effective defenses to the most common attacks in domestic violence, sexual assaults, and street assaults. Reading Police has offered the classes since 1996.
More than 1,000 women have participated in the Reading Police Department program since its inception 25 years ago. The program has remained free thanks to donations and support from individuals and community groups. The department would like to thank the Women’s League of Reading for its ongoing support.
The class will be taught in Reading over four nights:
- Monday, March 18, from 6-9 p.m.
- Thursday, March 21, from 6-9 p.m.
- Monday, March 25, from 6-9 p.m.
- Thursday, March 28, from 6-9 p.m.
