Reading Police Charge Woman with Second Offense Drunken Driving

READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a woman with second offense drunken driving following a motor vehicle stop on Saturday.

KELLY MCGOVERN, AGE 54, OF PEABODY, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operating Under the Influence of Liquor (Second Offense)
  • Operating to Endanger
  • Marked Lanes Violation

On Saturday, Jan. 27, at approximately 9:25 p.m., the Reading Police Department received a report of an erratic driver in a brown Toyota Camry on Lowell Street. Officers responded to the area and observed the vehicle driving erratically at the intersection of Lowell and Salem Streets.

Officers initiated a stop of the Camry on Salem Street, and identified MCGOVERN as the driver. Following an on scene investigation, MCGOVERN was arrested and charged.

MCGOVERN was arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court.

“I want to thank the individual who reported this erratic driver to us,” said Chief Clark. “That phone call helped our officers locate and identify this driver, which enabled us to get her off the road.”

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
