Reading Police Complete Gift Card Distribution

READING — Chief David Clark is pleased to announce that the Reading Police Department has completed distribution of gift cards that were donated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over $1,000 worth of gift cards were donated to Reading Police in 2020 during the pandemic. The gift cards and donations were then re-distributed to those who needed assistance throughout the community over the past four years.

Gift cards were distributed based on need, to those who are homeless, or individuals in domestic situations. Additionally $1,000 in gift cards was directly donated to the Reading Human and Elder Services Department.

Reading Police handed out the last of the gift cards this month.

“These donations have helped many people throughout our community, and I am thrilled that our department was able to be a part of this,” said Chief Clark.

Residents who would like to continue this initiative and give back to those in need can donate gift cards and drop them off at the Reading Police station, 15 Union St. Gift cards should be placed in the mailbox outside the front door.
