Reading Police Department Arrests and Charges Man with OUI Following Traffic Stop


READING — Chief David Clark reports that the Reading Police Department arrested and charged a Reading man with an OUI following a traffic stop.

ERIC BEAK, AGE 38, of READING, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • OUI (Second Offense)
  • Possession of Open Container of Alcohol in Motor Vehicle
  • Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle
  • Operating Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration
  • Uninsured Motor Vehicle
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Speeding

On Monday, Jan. 8 at approximately 10:19 p.m. while on patrol, a Reading Police officer observed a blue Subaru Impreza headed eastbound on Walkers Brook Drive traveling at a high rate of speed. Reading Police then initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, which pulled into a nearby gas station.

While speaking with the driver of the vehicle, identified as BEAK, Reading Police observed an empty container of alcohol on the floor in the front seat.

A preliminary investigation, as a result of a field sobriety test, determined that BEAKwas operating under the influence.

BEAK was arrested without incident. BEAK was held on $290 cash bail.

BEAK was arraigned in Woburn District Court Tuesday, Jan. 9.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
