Obituary: Scott J. Azulay, 56

January 18, 1967 – December 31, 2023

Scott J. Azulay, a resident of Reading for 26 years, passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 31, 2023, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years of age.

Scott, originally from Kingston, Massachusetts, was born on January 18, 1967 in Plymouth, MA. He is the son of the late Richard and Geraldine (Silva) Azulay. Scott was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School, Bridgewater State College, and Newbury College. 

He was a highly regarded Physical Therapy Assistant working with patients throughout the North Shore. He spent many years playing basketball on Sundays at the YMCA and also enjoyed hiking, exploring waterfalls, wildlife photography, craft beer, and listening to Prince. Scott coached athletes, including his kids, in numerous football and basketball programs throughout the years; even his grandchildren affectionately call him Coach. Visiting with them was always a highlight of his day. 

Scott is the caring husband of Gina (Aiello) Azulay and the devoted father of Jessica Azulay, Jared Azulay and his wife Delina, Justin Azulay and his fiancée Julia Marshall, and Jamie Azulay and her boyfriend Ryan Polce. He is the cherished brother of Richard Azulay and his wife Janet, Gail Azulay, Anthony Azulay and his wife Cindy, the late Roxane Knight and the late Michael Azulay, and the loving grandfather of Louis and Richard Azulay. Scott is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A visitation celebrating Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, January 6, from 11 am-2 pm at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, Reading. A private burial will be held at a later date.
