Natalie (Comins) Cahill, a longtime resident of Reading, passed away on December 1, 2023, at Artis Senior Living in Reading. She was 100 years of age. Natalie was born in Wollaston, Massachusetts, on July 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Robert E. Comins and Alva (Todd) Chick.
Natalie was a graduate of Quincy High School and furthered her education at Burdett College and the Jackson Von Ladau School of Fashion. She completed the merchandising course at R.H. White’s department store and began her career there. Natalie was the manager-buyer at a boutique on Newbury Street named “The Snooty Fox” that appealed to the fashion-conscious. Following years of success, she was a manager at several Priscilla of Boston stores, showcasing her dedication and expertise in the industry.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Natalie was a woman of many talents. A gourmet cook and avid follower of Julia Child, she had a passion for French cooking, which resulted in a memorable trip to France. When not in the kitchen, she could be found tending to her beautiful flower garden and creating exquisite arrangements, earning her recognition in the House and Garden Christmas Door Competition in 1964. Natalie also enjoyed sewing and decorating, showcasing her creativity in various forms.
Natalie was the beloved wife of the late Paul R. Cahill. Devoted mother of Stephen T. Cahill and his wife Renee of Lewis, DE and Heather C. Soracco and her husband Michael of Reading. She was the loving grandmother of Taylor Cahill and Christopher and Olivia Soracco. Cherished sister of the late Priscilla Kidder, Roger Comins and Marjorie Townsend.
A visitation to celebrate Natalie’s life will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Saturday, December 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Burial is private.
