Obituary: Ronald D. Joos, 87

September 5, 1936 – November 16, 2023

Peabody – Ronald D. Joos, 87, beloved husband of Doris E. (Turner) Joos, died Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Salem Hospital.

Born in Camden, NJ, he was the son of the late Frederick W. and Maria (Wagner) Joos. He graduated from Gloucester City High School in NJ, Class of 1954 and earned both a bachelor’s in 1959 and a master’s degree in Physics in 1963 from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

Ronald had been employed for over fifty years in the semiconductor industry and retired from Microsemi Corporation in 2007.

A longtime resident of Peabody and most recently in Middleton, he was an active member, former trustee, and member of the missionary committee of the West Church in Peabody. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, he is survived by three sons, George C. Joos and his wife, Kerstin of Round Rock, TX, Andrew D. Joos and his wife, Suzanne of Reading, MA, and Donald H. Joos and his wife, Stephanie of Austin TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ashley, Kylie, Mary, Adam, Kevin, Connor, Austin and Owen Joos, a sister-in-law, Frances Joos of PA and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late infant daughter Kerry Lee Joos, stepson of the late Elizabeth (Hoffman) Joos and brother of the late Melvin E. Joos.

His funeral service will be held at the West Church Peabody, 27 Johnson St., Peabody, on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the church prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday morning. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. The burial will be held at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
