February 2, 1958 — October 2, 2023
Anne (Groth) Gray, of Reading, passed away peacefully following a four-year courageous battle with appendiceal cancer on Monday, October 2, 2023, with her husband and her sisters by her side. She fought with tremendous faith and grace. She was 65 years of age.
Anne is the beloved wife of Brendan Gray. She is the devoted sister of Susan Baughman (Greg), Shirley Hardesty (Kevin), and Janet Fangmann (Tim). She is the loving daughter of the late William and JoAnne (Herrick) Groth. Anne is also survived by her nephews and nieces, who she adored and loved: Trevor, Katie, Nate, Callie, William, Matt, and her best four-legged friend Ollie.
Anne and Brendan met in Washington, DC, when she worked for Senator Howard Baker, the Majority Leader of the Senate, and Brendan was stationed at the Pentagon. They fell in love and got married in Washington and shortly thereafter received orders to the West Coast. And thus began a wonderful and adventurous life traveling the world. Anne loved moving to new duty stations and learning about the local culture and customs. She became an accomplished chef and HR professional. When asked which was her favorite duty station, she could never give an answer, but she did narrow it down to either Hawaii or Naples, Italy. Her passions were her faith, cooking, and travel.
Anne’s bedrock was her faith. She was very involved in her church, and she showed people every day how to live their faith.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories of her on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in St Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Anne’s Eternal Life at 10:30 a.m. in the church.
