North Parish Quilt Guild Open to New Members

North Reading, MA — North Parish Quilters Guild meets on the 2nd Wed. of each month at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill Street, N Reading. The group blossomed from an adult education quilting class into an informational teaching and sharing group of quilters from Reading, N. Reading, Wakefield, Stoneham, Lynnfield and other surrounding towns. The first public North Parish Guild meeting was held on September 10, 1982, and we continue to this day.

Our membership includes all levels of quilting and sewing experience. Our purpose is to share our common love of quilts and the art of quilting while having fun and making friends.

Our members support charitable organizations by making and donating quilts and quilt-related items to Yawkey Way, VA Hospital in Bedford and to Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Camp. We are so very proud of the great numbers of quilts donated annually.

Like other organizations, Covid changed the size of our membership and has challenged us to reorganize and try some different things. We meet from Sept. thru June but the Jan-March meetings are held via Zoom so that none of us are out on cold and snowy nights. This also enables us to have national speakers join us via Zoom, local speakers on other dates.

Our October meeting is on Wednesday, Oct 11 at 7 PM; doors are open to all at 6:30. Our speaker for October is Lynnfield resident Gail Russell who is not only an incredibly talented quilter but has a strong talent for making incredible dolls. The public is welcome to attend this meeting as a guest. See what the Guild is about, make some new friends and learn about doll making. If you have any questions about the Guild, feel free to reach out to Karen King, kjimking@yahoo.com. Better yet, come to our meeting on October 11 and learn more.
