Maltez Finalist for Chelsea City Manager

Reading, MA – Town Manager Fidel Maltez is one of the four finalists for City Manager in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Maltez came to Reading after working for the city of Chelsea for five years, most recently as Commissioner of DPW.

Select Board Chair Jackie McCarthy made the announcement to the public at tonight’s meeting, “It’s not great news for Reading, but we wish all the best to Fidel and his family regardless of the outcome.” The board will address this at a future meeting if Maltez is selected for the Chelsea position.

The Chelsea City Council will interview candidates in a special session on September 30 and could vote on a selection at their October 2 meeting.
