Listen to this articleReading, MA — Longtime Reading resident Sally Hoyt celebrated her 101st birthday on August 20, 2023 at the Reading Pleasant Street Center.
Hoyt served as a member of the Board of Selectmen from 1990 to 2001 and a member of the Conservation Commission from 1980 to 1990. She is still active in the Mass Bay Constables Association. She was first elected Constable in 1972, but when the Town Charter was passed, and the structure of the Town government changed, Town Selectmen became appointees of Constables. This summer, she was reappointed as a Reading Constable for her 51st year.
