Maureen P. (Durgan) Lordan of Reading passed away on August 12, 2023, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. She was 79 years of age.
Maureen was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, on November 6, 1943, the daughter of the late William and Claire (Diggins) Durgan. Maureen was a graduate of Revere High School. She worked at the Telephone Workers’ Credit Union before pausing her career to raise her two children. She would later join her brother Richard at Thomas Cook/Durgan Travel and spend many years filling a variety of roles there, as well as traveling extensively.
Arriving in Reading in 1973, Maureen joined Newcomers & Neighbors, where she met her longtime best friend Lynne Graham. Maureen was a devoted parishioner at St. Agnes Church, where she taught CCD and was a Eucharistic Minister. A diehard Red Sox and Celtics fan, she had a special connection with the Bruins as she babysat the children of several players in her youth on the Point of Pines in Revere.
Maureen was the beloved wife of the late William D. Lordan. Devoted mother of Matt P. Lordan and his wife Gretchen of Litchfield, NH, and the late Greg M. Lordan. Loving grandmother of Katie and Erin. Cherished sister of Richard Durgan and his wife Cheryl of Florida and the late William Durgan.
Maureen’s funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading Friday, August 18 at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church 186 Woburn St. Reading at 10:30am. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn. Funeral Home Visiting Hours will be on Thursday, August 17 from 5:00-8:00pm.
