Closures will occur Monday and Tuesday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced that it will be implementing temporary overnight lane closures on Route 28 (Main St) both northbound and southbound from South Street to Summer Ave. The lane closures are scheduled to occur overnight on weeknights for two nights beginning on: Monday night, August 14, 2023, to Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, and then Tuesday night, August 15, 2023, to Wednesday morning, August 16, 2023.
The intersection at Main St and Hopkins St will be paved on Monday night into Tuesday morning and the intersection at Main St and Summer Ave will be paved on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The temporary lane closures are necessary to allow the contractor to safely and effectively perform paving operations and other incidental work. Police details will be used to direct traffic on Route 28 at the affected intersections and there will be appropriate signage during the work operations. Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas at these times should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. The work is being conducted as part of a $1.5 million project to resurface and perform related work along approximately less than a mile of roadway on this section of Route 28 at the intersections of Main St/Hopkins St and Main St/Summer Ave.
