STRETE, Jane (Bailey-Blood) Died on June 12, 2023, after a brief illness, at almost 92 years of age. She is survived by her children, Deborah Blood, David Blood-Deschamps (Claire) and Brian Blood (Andrea); and grandchildren, Gabriela and Daniel. Jane grew up in Fitchburg, MA and graduated from Cushing Academy and Colby College. She married Lawrence Blood in 1956, and they raised their three children in Reading, MA. She was active in the Church of the Good Shepherd and the League of Women Voters, and was a devoted mother. Jane earned a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA. All her life she enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, canoeing and being in nature, especially at the family camp in Ashburnham, MA. She was a published poet and ardent feminist. In the early ’80s, she moved to Cambridge and became a true Cantabrigian, enjoying the culture and energy of that city. She spent her later years at Cadbury Commons in Cambridge, where she received excellent support and care. A Graveside Memorial and Interment will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA, at 11:30 am on August 4, for family and friends.
