Obituary: Sister Anne Fahey

Fahey, Sister Anne (Sister Leo Kevin), beloved Sister of Charity, Halifax for 70 years, entered peacefully into her eternal life on June 28, 2023, at Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley, MA.

Devoted daughter of the late Michael James and Marion Grace (McNealy) Fahey. Sister Anne is the loving sister of Marjorie Joyce of Reading, MA, her brothers Leo Fahey and his wife, Joyce, of Mooresville, NC and Paul Fahey and his wife, Diana, of St. Augustine, FL as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and her Sisters in the congregation.

She was predeceased by her sister Marion Norton and her brother, James Michael Fahey. Sister Anne was a gifted woman, and her life in ministry was multi-faceted. She taught in grammar and high schools and served as Director of Religious Education in several parishes in Canada and the United States. She served as Director of Formation for the Sisters of Charity as well as Provincial Treasurer and Provincial Superior.

The latter years of her ministry found her involved in the Cursillo Retreat movement at Saint Basil’s Monastery in Methuen, MA, where she was a team leader and spiritual director and very involved with the Sisters of Charity Associates. In her last formal assignment, Sister Anne served as a founding member of the Board of Directors and as an Advancement Associate at Elizabeth Seton Academy in Dorchester, MA, before retiring to Marillac Residence at Mount Saint Vincent in 2014 and subsequently to Elizabeth Seton Residence.

Funeral Services for Sister Anne Fahey will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Mount Saint Vincent, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA, at 9:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 AM. Interment will take place at Saint Mary Cemetery, Needham, MA, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sister Anne Fahey may be made to the Sisters of Charity Retirement Center, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
