Reading, MA — The late trooper Tamar Anoush Bucci’s father, Anthony J. Bucci, and his family gathered outside Reading Town Hall at the Adopt an Island location. The two memorial flower boxes on the site are dedicated to his daughter, who was killed in the line of duty on March 3, 2022, when she was struck by a tanker truck while pulling over to help a disabled vehicle on Interstate 93 in Stoneham.
This beautiful flower tribute was designed and maintained by her father and his partner Nataly Garcia as a beautiful reminder of the amazing person who loved her family and friends and dedicated her life to helping those in need.
Tamar was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, friend, athlete, state police officer, and so much more. When asked, her father, Anthony, stated, “Tamar’s memory will always live on as the plants blossom and the tree grows.”
Her father also founded the first non-profit foundation in her name to honor her memory – The Tamar Bucci Foundation.
The foundation is supported through public contributions and was created to assist families who have lost loved ones through similar tragedies. Mr. Bucci aspires to build a recreational park in Tamar’s honor that will provide open green space for families and individuals to gather and enjoy.
“Tamar was a fitness fanatic and an avid animal and child lover. The vision is to build a park that would be available to the public but with a design to help people who have suffered life’s challenges and that would benefit from what the park had to offer.” Bucci stated, “The design would include a recreation area for children, an organized workout area with stations for calisthenics, and a chill area for meditation and reflection. The park would also have a separate dog-friendly section, of course.”
An animal lover himself, Bucci understands the value of animal companionship. He has directly assisted people with disabilities by training service dogs for people with disabilities.
Bucci reflected and said, “There will never be a day, hour, minute, or second in which I will stop loving or thinking about my daughter. The way I get through my days is by doing whatever I can to honor her memory, and there is no better way than to build something lasting that continues to bring joy and well-being to our entire community.”
