Temple Emmanuel’s CHAI School Registration 2023-2024

Wakefield, MA — Registration for Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield’s Hebrew School is now open for the fall opening. The CHAI School offers an engaging, stimulating, and energetic classroom environment where children can embrace their Jewish roots, regardless of their level of observance, affiliation, or prior knowledge. We welcome all learners. Our classes are large enough for engaging group activities, and sufficiently small to provide excellent individual attention. With the involvement of Temple Emmanuel’s Rabbi Greg Hersh and classes led by experienced Jewish educator Brenda Dolan, we are excited to offer the following classes each week from September 2023 through May 2024:

  • K – 2nd Grades (ages 5-8) / 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.: Tuesday afternoon for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education or just getting started. We will focus on introducing students to basic Jewish prayers, learning the Hebrew language through English and Hebrew songs, and studying the Torah and Jewish Holidays with multi-sensory-themed, creative activities. There will be a mixed-age group tefillah (prayer) session that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.
  • 3rd – 6th Grades (ages 8-12) / 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Tuesday afternoon for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education and are interested in becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We will offer an innovative curriculum of Hebrew instruction focusing on Torah study and discussion, and of course, singing tefillot and other Jewish songs. There will be a mixed-age group, tefillah (prayer) session, that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.
  • Advanced Hebrew 3rd – 6th Grades (ages 8-12) / 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Tuesday afternoon for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education and are interested in becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
