August 24, 1952 – May 15, 2023
Nancy E. “Coach” Patterson, a lifelong resident of Reading, passed away on May 15, 2023, at the Care One of Wilmington. She was 70 years of age. Nancy was born in Melrose, Massachusetts, on August 24, 1952, the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Brenton) Patterson.
Nancy was a wonderful Aunt and Great Aunt, getting tremendous joy out of spending time with her nephew and great niece and nephew. She never missed a pumpkin carving or Easter egg hunt, and brought joy and excitement to all around her. She loved her family and always made it a priority to get everyone together, hosting annual BBQs and other events.
Nancy spent most of her working career at East Cambridge Savings Bank, which became her extended family. She dedicated much of her time to Eastern Star and was involved in many charitable fundraising events. Nancy was very active in sports, coaching many teams throughout the years, and always a lively team member. She was a great sister and loved her many pet dogs throughout the years. She will be remembered fondly as someone who always brought fun, energy, and excitement to everything she did.
Nancy was the cherished sister of Irwin M. Patterson of Reading and his late wife, Kathy (Mahoney) Patterson. Loving aunt of Ryan M. Patterson and his wife Erin of Reading and loving great aunt of Lucy and Will Patterson of Reading.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Douglass, Edgerley, and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) Reading from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will be given by Priscilla Chapter #52 OES at 6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at the Old South United Methodist Church, 6 Salem St., Reading at 11 am. Burial to follow at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
