Obituary: Adele F. (Petrocelli) Blunt, 88

August 24, 1934 – February 5, 2023

Adele F. (Petrocelli) Blunt, a resident of Reading for 66 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 5, 2023, at the age of 88. Adele was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 24, 1934, the daughter of the late Domenic and Frances (DeLuca) Petrocelli.

Adele worked in the nursing field for many years in local hospitals and doctors’ offices. Adele was an active member of St. Agnes Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a patient volunteer at Winchester Hospital, where she also gave communion to the sick.

Adele enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and Frye Island, cooking and cake decorating, and visiting with her many friends from Medford High School, St. Agnes Church and the First Congregational Church in Reading. Adele’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially the love of her life Ralph.

Adele was the beloved wife of the late Ralph C. Blunt for 63 years. She was the devoted mother of Marilyn A. Sullivan and her husband Mark of Londonderry, NH; David C. Blunt and his wife Victoria of Reading; Valerie A. Sarsfield and her husband Steven of Stoneham; and Stephen C. Blunt and his wife Kimberly of Holden. Loving grandmother of Natalia Vragovic and her husband Boris, Mark Sullivan Jr. and his fiancé Beatriz Lopez, Matthew Blunt and his wife Jasmin, Jacqueline and Katherine Sarsfield, and Grayson Wayne. Loving and proud great-grandmother of Luka and Marko Vragovic. Adele was the loving aunt of many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews, and an endless circle of friends.

Funeral home visiting hours will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home ,25 Sanborn St., (corner of Woburn St.) Reading on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm. Adele’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Wood End Cemetery in Reading.
