October 11, 1934 – January 28, 2023
Nancy (Caley) (Manchester) Reid, a 20-year resident of Groveland, formerly of Reading, where she was a resident for 40 years, passed away on January 28, 2023, at the High Pointe House in Haverhill. She was 88 years of age. Nancy was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on October 11, 1934, the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Crocker) Caley.
Nancy was active with HONs and made countless quilts for Shriners Hospitals, hospitalized children. She was a member of Nile. Nancy was known as the “Pizza Lady” at the Shriners Auditorium, volunteering numerous hours over the years. Nancy was very modern, using her laptop and iPhone, she loved texting her grandchildren and getting pictures of their events and fun times. Nancy was always smiling and laughing, even on her last few days she said, “ always leave them laughing.” She always looked on the bright side of life. Nancy passed peacefully with her family.
Nancy was the beloved wife of William A. Reid and the late William G. Manchester. Devoted mother of Alison Manchester Gustafson Foster and her husband, Stephen Foster. Loving grandmother of Liam, Hanna and Olivia Gustafson. Cherished sister of the late Bette Pinkham, Barbara Cheney, George Caley, John Caley and Priscilla Boutilier.
A visitation will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner) of Woburn St. Reading on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00pm followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Charles Lawn Cemetery in Reading.
Repast reception will follow at Teresa’s Restaurant Fire Place Room 149 South Main Street Middleton, MA 01949 1-4pm.
