May 22, 1928 ~ January 3, 2023
Our beloved mother, Shokooh Doostdar, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, after a valiant battle with pneumonia. The last few months, she suffered greatly but remained resilient and persevered.
Shokooh was born on May 22, 1928, in Tehran, Iran. She was married to her lifelong husband and companion Hamid Sadri in 1958, and they were married for 62 years until he passed away in March of 2020.
Shokooh leaves behind her legacy of three children, Babak Sadri and his wife Flora, Siamak Sadri and his wife Shohreh, and Azita Sadri and her husband Michael. She loved and adored her five grandchildren, Amanda, Cameron, Da Shawn, Bijan and Sina who were always her pride and joy.
She was a determined woman who accepted no limitations. She was a pioneer in her own time by working in a man’s world as a banker to provide the best possible opportunities for her children. She believed in higher education both at home and abroad and the importance of it in their future. She endured the unbearable separation of her children studying abroad to ensure the best possible education.
Those who knew her would remember how she loved to bring the family together over home-cooked meals which were always memorable as she took pride in her cooking. We were spoiled throughout our lives, and the grandkids always enjoyed eating their favorite food as a treat each time we got together.
She was an independent and lively woman who was still driving at the age of 89 until her independence was seriously compromised by a fall that resulted in fracturing her hip. Despite her continued diminished ability to walk, she never lost her zest, determination, and enthusiasm for life.
She always remained as the family matriarch respected by all whose presence and influence will always be missed as a loving and devoted mother, kind and affectionate grandmother and a supportive spouse. She is now looking down on us from heaven where she belongs. We will always love and cherish you mom for your never-ending love for us. Until we meet again….
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, January 7th from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made in her name to St. Jude in pursuit of a cure for childhood cancer which was her favorite organization at http:www.stjude.org.
