Obituary: Louis A. Barretto Sr.

Louis A. “Louie” Barretto Sr. was called to the arms of the Lord at his home in Melrose with his family by his side on October 18th, 2022. Loving husband of 57 years to Jo-Ann (Keller) Barretto.

Proud and devoted father of Louis Barretto Jr. and his wife Caryn of Woburn and Lance Barretto of Medford and Jacqui of Dedham. Loving father-in-law of Melissa Shultz of Reading. Bragging Papa of his three queens and king, Cayla, Cortney, Madison and Lance Barretto Jr. Brother of Nicholas Barretto and his wife Carol, Vera Ford and her husband Ralph, Michael Barretto and his wife Gilda, Marie LaHue and her husband Andrew and the late John, Philip and William Barretto, Anna Mangiasi and Josephine Kiklis. Beloved son of the late Nicholas and Phyllis (Ciulla) Barretto.

Louie was raised in the Fulton Heights section of Medford. He has been a resident of Melrose for the past 55 years. He worked for Union Local 379 as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the DeMatteo Construction Company in Quincy for over 30 years. After his retirement, he could be found working alongside his son Louie at L&L Services in Malden. He loved the equipment and the round-the-clock plowing of snow during a storm. He was a member of the North Shore Corvette Club and a Life Member of the Winter Hill Yacht Club in Somerville.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Monday, October 24th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 23rd, from 2-6 PM.
