3rd Annual Whitelam Books Pumpkin Contest
From October 8 – 23, drop off your decorated or carved pumpkin that represents a favorite book or literary character. Pumpkins will be displayed in the front window for the whole town to see. The creator of the winning pumpkin will win a Whitelam tote bag and a $25 gift card.
Story and Movement Time Wednesdays
Join us every Wednesday at 10:30 for Story and Movement Time with Daisy. Your little ones will enjoy good books, movement, and fun.
Donut Story Time with Author Carrie Finison at the Reading Public Library
Join Whitelam Books at the Reading Public Library on Saturday, October 15, at 3:00 to meet children’s author Carrie Finison. This fun event will include a reading of her book “Dozens of Doughnuts,” crafts, a Q & A with the author, and, of course, donuts. Copies of Carrie Finison’s books will be available for purchase and the author will even sign them for you.
Author Story Time with Phaea Crede at Whitelam Books
Can’t get enough children’s books, food, and fun? Join us at Whitelam Books on Sunday, October 16, at 2:00 to meet Author Phaea Crede who will read from her new book “Super Pizza and Kid Kale.” Come meet the author, have some fun, and even have your book signed.
Gear up to Write Your Novel
November is national Novel Writing Month and Whitelam Books is thrilled to partner with NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) to support anyone who wants to get going on their first (or second, or third) novel. Local novelist Laura Hatosy will share tips and tricks to
help aspiring writers survive and thrive during this global challenge to write 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November. Details at whitelambooks.com. This event is free on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7PM, but an RSVP is requested. Please email whitelamwriters@gmail.com to register.
Children’s Book Launch
Join us on Saturday, October 22, at Whitelam Books to help author Sarah Lynne Reul launch her brand-new children’s book, “Bubbie and Rivka’s Best Ever Challah (So Far!).” Practice makes progress in this multi-generational story about family traditions and the pursuit of the perfect challah. Enjoy a reading and Q & A by the author, enjoy some challah to eat, and even get your own copy of the book signed. This is a fun experience for the whole family.
Downtown Trick or Treat
It’s a beloved Reading tradition, and Whitelam Books is excited to participate again. On Wednesday, October 26, from 4 – 5:30, bring your little ghost or goblin in their Halloween costume from business to business downtown to get a treat. Don’t forget to stop at Whitelam Books, where we’ll even have a treat for the grown-ups. Ever wonder what makes a book “lightly haunted?” Come on down to find out!
