Eileen C. (Kenney) Doucette of Reading, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. She was 91 years. Eileen, daughter of Helen (Short) Kenney and Peter Kenney, grew up in Woburn. After marrying her husband Burr, they settled in Reading and raised their five children. Eileen loved being a homemaker, and her greatest joy was taking care of her family. She was known for being kind, thoughtful, and friendly. Eileen loved meeting new people wherever she went.
Eileen had a passion for making handcrafted dolls and enjoyed baking for family and friends during the holidays. She made the one fruitcake that everyone asked for! She was an avid bowler and played in several candlepin bowling leagues. Other interests included trivia, jigsaw puzzles, listening to music, collecting antiques, and researching her family tree from Ireland. She was especially proud of an ancestor who fought with the Irish Brigade in the Civil War. Eileen was fortunate to visit Ireland several times.
Eileen is beloved wife of the late William J. “Burr” Doucette. Devoted mother of Peter Doucette and his wife Shirley, Laurie Ann Sylvia and her husband Terry, Gayle Bowers and her husband Rob, Paul W. Doucette and his wife Kristin, and the late Carol Seaward and her husband Harold. Cherished grandmother of Justin and Brandon Sylvia, Jennifer and Kelly Bowers, Bryan and Emily Doucette, and Great-Grandmother of Ava and Camden Sylvia. Dear sister of Una Sheehy, Edward W. Kenney and his wife Patricia and the late Jeanne A. Kenney and Peter T. Kenney. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating Eileen’s eternal life will be held in the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. Reading, on Friday, October 7th, at 10 am. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
