February 28, 1965 ~ August 3, 2022, 57
James “Jimmy” Michael Green, of North Andover, 57, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022. He was born February 28, 1965, to John and Barbara (Conti) Green and graduated from Reading Memorial High School class of 1983.
Jimmy was an avid fan of all New England sports – the Boston Bruins, Celtics, New England Patriots, and the Red Sox. The Red Sox held a special place in his heart, as it was after a game at Fenway where he met his loving wife of over 33 years, Lisa (Griffin) Green. They eventually welcomed their son Logan in 1991 and their daughter Devin in 1993.
Jimmy and Lisa raised their family in North Reading, where he was a coach for North Reading youth sports. Many will remember him as “Coach Green” as he was always affectionately known on the football field.
Jimmy loved his work as a Lead Electrical Lineman for the Reading Municipal Light Department, where he worked for over 34 years. He not only helped the towns he serviced, but always enjoyed the camaraderie of the men on his crew. After retiring from RMLD in 2019, he joined Local 104, where he again had passion for his job and the people he worked with both locally around the country, restoring service after severe storms.
Jimmy was an avid golfer. His fellow golfers in the Hillview Thursday night league were always entertained by his colorful commentary and quick wit. If he gave you a hard time while competing, you knew he liked you.
Jimmy’s athletic expertise didn’t end with golf. He also excelled in cornhole as the 10-time undisputed McGuinea Cup Champion. In his dodgeball years, he schooled many a competitor and left them with bruised egos while walking away with yet another trophy.
Family was the most important thing to Jimmy. His happiest days were spent with his wife and kids. Whether in the backyard or on the backroads of a Caribbean Island, a European city, or by a campfire in Vermont – no matter the location, as long as his family was there, so was his joy.
If you were ever lucky enough to have met or known Jimmy, aka Greenie, you know what a kind, loving, and happy guy he was. Jimmy’s infectious smile would make everyone’s day. He was the kind of person who would make everybody feel like they were his best friend. Jimmy couldn’t walk into Kitty’s without being greeted by raucous applause.
A life shorter than we all wanted for him, Jimmy filled ten lifetimes worth of living and love into his years. He will be missed every day by all who knew and loved him.
